The number on the screen when someone cheers or subs is never the number that lands in your bank account. Here's the real math.

Bits & Cheers (Twitch)
Viewers buy Bits from Twitch in bundles — the price per bit varies by bundle size (small bundles cost more per bit than large ones, roughly $1.40 for the smallest 100-bit bundle). What you actually receive as the streamer doesn't depend on that:
Streamer payout: a fixed $0.01 (1 cent) per Bit, no matter what the viewer paid for their bundle. So 100 Bits cheered = $1.00 to you, before taxes.
Subscriptions (Twitch)
Twitch subs come in three tiers: Tier 1 (~$4.99/mo), Tier 2 (~$9.99/mo), and Tier 3 (~$24.99/mo).
Standard split: 50/50. A Tier 1 sub nets you about $2.50 before processing/taxes. A small number of top-performing Partners have negotiated 70/30 deals (you keep 70%) — historically capped at the first $100,000 of annual sub revenue before reverting to 50/50. Treat 50/50 as the number to plan around unless Twitch has specifically offered you better terms.
Super Chat & Super Thanks (YouTube)
YouTube pays creators 70% of Super Chat and Super Thanks revenue, keeping 30% — minus applicable app-store fees and local taxes on top of that.
Direct Donations / Tips
Tools like Streamlabs let viewers tip you directly through PayPal, Stripe, or a card processor.
The platform itself usually takes $0 — Streamlabs, for example, states it does not take a cut of tips. But the payment processor (PayPal/Stripe/card network) still charges its own standard processing fee, commonly around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for card payments. So your real take-home is "100% minus processor fees," not "100% minus platform fees."
